My Therapeutic Approach
I value the quality and strength of the collaborative relationship between my client and myself which is developed based on the agreement of the therapeutic goals, on-going consensus regarding treatment approaches utilized, and the growth of a strong therapeutic relationship. Furthermore, a powerful therapeutic alliance allows clients to feel generally understood and secure sharing their thoughts, feelings, struggles, and goals.
The underlying principles and strategies I implement when working with clients come from the following research-based and empirically supported approaches: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Having completed my graduate school training, I am pursuing an OCD/anxiety specialization under the direct supervision and mentorship of Dr. Kimberly Glazier Leonte. In addition, I completed the International OCD Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy’s online OCD and Anxiety Training program.

My Education and Training
I completed my graduate degree and earned a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My master’s level internship was completed in the inpatient psychiatric unit of Anna Jaques Hospital, in Newburyport, MA. My role included providing individual and group therapy for the adults and older adolescents who were receiving care within the inpatient facility. Some of the groups I provided include: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Self-compassion and Self-esteem, Resilience and Coping, and Acceptance. I also previously interned as a counselor in the pediatric unit of Anna Jaques Hospital, located in Amesbury, MA. Here I provided individual and group therapy for children and adolescents struggling with a range of psychosocial challenges. Working within the inpatient level of care has led to my strong foundational background providing therapy to clients struggling with a wide range of symptoms and who are in need of supportive and goal-focused therapy.
I received my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, and bachelor of science degree from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. For a more in-depth look at my clinical experiences please refer to my curriculum vitae.
My Areas of Specialty
Anxiety is a human experience, however, when anxiety levels are strong, the impact on one’s life can be significant. Moreover, OCD is a common way that symptoms of anxiety present for people. The underlying principles of anxiety and OCD are the same: difficulty with doubt and the “what ifs”. My passion is working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety/OCD.
